Got Silica?

Silica has been known to be a potential health concern in many industries and OSHA revised exposure standards in 2016. Today, in Region 8 (CO, MT, ND, SD, UT, WY), OSHA maintains a Regional Emphasis Program (REP) on Crystalline Silica.

What does this mean? Silica may be prevalent in construction, stone cutting, and quarrying as well as mining, concrete and cement manufacturing, road building and aggregate transportation, and related construction activities. An OSHA REP may lead to increased focus and related inspections of such trades.  These inspections may be triggered by your company’s Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) code, visible activities, complaints, or incident reporting.
