FMCSA Shuts Down Texas Trucking Operations

Why should motor carriers be concerned about roadside inspection? Because carriers (and drivers) violations are tracked by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).  As a part of DOT’s Compliance Safety and Accountability (CSA) program, all carriers with a DOT number or operating authority are tracked according to their safety and enforcement performance.

Carriers will have a rolling 24-month profile and rating based on total safety performance (crashes, inspections, violations, policies, procedures, and driver qualifications).  Carriers will receive an updated rating monthly based on their profile.  FMCSA monitors the Out of Service (OOS) violations and rates each carrier against the national average.   The higher above the national average a carrier is, the more likely they are to see more roadside inspections with higher levels of scrutiny.

Carriers can lose their operating authority for egregious violations, unacceptable performance or failing to correct conditions.
